Functional Movement is the ability to move the body with proper muscle and joint function for effortless, pain-free movement. This practice takes your joints through their full range of motion and engages the stabilizing muscles. It is essential in preventing injury and bringing efficient and healthy movement back to the body. Whether it be for sports or everyday life, this is how the body optimally performs. There are 4 major aspects of moving functionally; Strength, Flexibility, Mobility, and Stability. People tend to be overly familiar with the first 2 and spend most of their time focusing on only one of them. At some point, in this focus, they become liabilities in their movement. Too much strength increases rigidity. Too much flexibility increases instability. The balance of these are mobility and stability. Ultimately, they all play a role in how a joint functions and FMMT focuses on the optimal range of motion while applying all of the 4 aspects.
